One of my favorite quotes is from Andrew Wyeth: âNo medium has any limitations, the only limitation is in the artist.â He said that in reference to a pencil drawing he did of his sister. A piece he knew he could take no further by making it into a painting.
Sometimes a drawing can help you find the composition, discover the image before working in paint. And sometimes, it is something complete unto itself. It represents a pattern of light and shadow, the very essence of the subject.
