The Seven Secret Painting Techniques I Learned From My Mentor, Master Artist, Odd Nerdrum

In October of 2016 I gave a Lecture / Demo at The Concord Center for the Visual Arts (Concord Art). The title "The Seven Secret Painting Techniques I Learned From My Mentor, Master Artist, Odd Nerdrum" seemed appropriate. This Lecture is an overview of the most important things I learned from Odd Nerdrum that continue to influence my work today, and will for many years to come.

None of the 'techniques' are formulas for painting this or that. When I traveled to Norway to live and study with Odd Nerdrum I went looking for a step by step process, one that does not exist. What I found instead was more vital, and more important to my life and practice as an artist than I could have ever thought possible. What I learned was "ways of looking", habits of thought and action, and principles of fine painting.

In this Demo I did my very best to share as much as possible in two short hours of what I learned, so that you may benefit from the information and the perspective. I hope this benefits you in your work as much as it benefited me in mine.
